When you opt in to EBCD, the radiologist reviews the mammogram using an FDA-cleared AI software tool that aids in cancer detection by identifying lesions and calcifications.
Suspicious areas are highlighted for the radiologist.
2
The radiologist uses the AI software again to review the initial assessment.
3
If the AI makes an alternate conclusion
than the radiologist, a second expert radiologist
reviews the exam.
2
The result is finalized by the radiologist
after all steps are completed.
For women who have opted-in to EBCD there
has been a 21% increase in cancer detection in
all women, regardless of age, race or ethnicity.
Increase in cancer detection
EBCD, using Artificial Intelligence (AI), is applied to your mammogram. No additional radiation is required, and EBCD has no effect on the time needed for your exam.
If EBCD detects an area of suspicion on an exam, it will alert your radiologist. When the radiologist interprets the exam, EBCD assists by pointing out very subtle lesions that are not always visible to the human eye.
Then EBCD acts as a second set of eyes and performs an additional review. If there is a suspicious finding, a second radiologist is brought in to consult on your exam.
Your radiologist uses the data and their own clinical experience to determine a final result for the exam.
